The challenge

After establishing itself as a leading brand in the Finnish market, LolaLykke sought to expand its presence in the UK and Germany. To achieve this, they needed to increase organic traffic in these new markets. Our team partnered with LolaLykke to enhance their SEO and content strategy.

The Solution

Often, when clients come to us with traffic drops, we take the time to understand their specific situation and work closely with them to create a tailored strategy to overcome their SEO obstacles. 

This involves thoroughly analyzing their website, identifying potential issues, and devising a plan to improve their search engine optimization and increase traffic.

1. SEO Audit

We began by conducting a thorough SEO audit to pinpoint the root causes of the traffic decline to fix the problems. 

During the audit for LolaLykke, we performed a technical SEO analysis to evaluate the website's performance and identify areas for improvement. 

  • We did an in-depth assessment of indexability and crawlability to ensure search engines could effectively navigate and index the site. 
  • We also thoroughly examined the site's overall health to identify which problems required attention. This approach allowed us to identify and rectify issues that could hinder the site's performance and user experience.
  • We identified on-page elements and pages that were underperforming and losing traffic over time.
  • Also, we looked into their analytics to identify high-churn pages and areas for improved user experience. 

Fixed Technical SEO Issues by Priority

After identifying the issues that contributed to the website's organic drop, we categorized them by priority: high, medium and low. 

We fixed the technical SEO issues affecting indexability, crawlability and site speed performance.

Our professional team comprised of SEO experts helped Lolalykke fix the technical issues by priority. Lolakykke is a medium-sized site with 1000+ pages and links, so it could not have achieved all this alone. Our SEO experts helped the company fix all issues quickly and efficiently. 

2. On-Page Optimization & content optimization

On-page optimization is a crucial task that we must perform to improve the website's ranking on search engines.

With my team, we used the data we collected from their Google Search Console, GA4, and keyword research to enhance LolaLykke's on-page elements and improve its ranking. 

We optimized the website’s on-page elements: meta tags, page titles, headings, body text, and image alt text in English and Finnish. By optimizing these elements, we improved the website's visibility and relevance for search queries, ultimately leading to higher organic traffic and better rankings.

After optimizing on-page elements and content for keywords, we performed internal linking and content pruning for Lolalykke’s blog posts and product pages.

Expanding to UK and EU Markets

Lolalykke wanted to reach more customers in the UK and EU, so we changed their website content to make it more appealing to people in the UK. We used words and phrases commonly used by mothers in the UK to make the content more relatable. We also helped them with keyword research and link-building strategy for the UK market.

3.Strategy and in-depth analysis 

Content Restructure and Topic Planning

We recognized the potential of Lolalyke’s existing content and restructured their knowledge base and FAQ resources to be more SEO-friendly. 

We also optimized the copy to address the target audience's pain points. By including keywords that mothers use to seek answers to their problems in their motherhood journey, we increased click rates, reduced bounce rates, and converted more product pages. 

This strategy shows the importance of addressing the target audience's pain points to achieve better marketing and sales results.

SEO Analysis 

Other deliverables we provided for Lolalykke to boost and improve the SEO performance. 

  • Competitive analysis-We also did a thorough competitor analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement with LolaLykke and its competitors.
  • We conducted a detailed backlink analysis to gauge the website's authority and credibility. 
  • Furthermore, we performed a content gap analysis to identify opportunities for enhancing the website's content strategy.
  • We did a comprehensive keyword gap analysis to uncover potential keyword opportunities. 

The results

Following the completion of on-page optimization in 4-6 weeks (August 2023),  Lolalyke experienced double the improvement in organic traffic. This increase was due to our optimization of the LolaLykke website and the large volume of existing content they produced.

Furthermore, Lolalyke’s targeted keywords achieved the top 5 positions on search engines. These are long-tailed and category keywords, such as wireless breast pumps, breast pumps, and combination breastfeeding.

Although Lolalykke didn’t actively do off-page SEO, with our provided content strategy and topic planning, the LolaLykke team worked on the planned topics and continued adding quality content to the website. Traffic continued to grow as they adhered to our content strategy.

Following the implementation of our strategy, they witnessed significant growth in sales of their health products, and this upward trend has been consistent.
